26th December 2004 was the most unforgettable day in the Indian history and specifically for the state of Tamilnadu. Over 8000 people died in this major catastrophe caused by turbulent Tsunami waves and almost several lakh people went homeless. The devastation occurred just in a matter of few minutes and the scar this event left behind would be is still painful though not invisible without the support of the State government, NGO's and not for profit organizations. PTSLP- Post Tsunami Sustainable Livelihood program is a not for profit government authorized service sector which operates with the help of The State Government of Tamilnadu and wisely assisted by IFAD- International fund for agricultural development.

The Post Tsunami Livelihood program is implemented in coastal panchayats of six districts of Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam and Kanyakumari. Within these districts, the program is operationalized in 25 blocks where in the coastal panchayats are grouped into clusters.
